More snow on the way for Mount Macedon
17/08/2010: It snowed in Mount Macedon yesterday and the next snow may be only a few days away, according to weatherzone.com.au.
"Snow may redevelop as soon as Thursday night when the next strong cold front crosses Victoria," Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke said.
"The burst of snow coming to Victoria later this week will be widespread across the Alpine Areas and should fall as low as 800 metres on Thursday night and Friday, Dutschke said.
"The village of Mount Macedon is about 600 metres above sea level, so it will be touch and go if it snows in town again this week. But it won't be far away, there should be some at the top of the mountain, about 1000 metres above sea level."
Snow has already been reported three times this year in the Mount Macedon area, twice in the last fortnight.
Yesterday, brief heavy bursts of snow fell in the village and light dustings affected nearby Woodend and Kyneton, both about 550 metres above sea level.
For Melbourne and the rest of Victoria it means that winter is still kicking along with strong winds, widespread showers and some small hail.
"Wednesday is looking like the windiest day, Friday the coldest. Wind gusts may reach 90km/h in Melbourne, 100km/h on the hills and ranges, Dutschke said."
A Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds is in force.
