Final Flood Watch For The West Kimberley And Fitzroy Rivers And Desert Catchments Issued at 11:48 AM WST on Wednesday 28 May 2025 Flood Watch Number: 6 RAINFALL HAS EASED BUT AREAS OF LOCALISED FLOODING MAY PERSIST ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS The band of rain that brought widespread unseasonal moderate to heavy rainfall to the Flood Watch area has now cleared. Widespread rainfall totals of around 80 to 100 mm, with isolated totals of up to 130 mm were recorded over the flood watch area in the 48 hours to 9:00 am Wednesday. Catchments in the Flood Watch area that have received recent rainfall are moderately wet, otherwise catchments are relatively dry. No further significant rainfall is forecast for the flood watch area. Elevated streams and creek levels along with hazardous road conditions, especially on secondary roads may persist for the next few days and prevent road users from traversing typically dry areas. Check road conditions before travelling. A flood watch is current in the Northern Territory for for MacDonnell Ranges, Tanami, Central and Simpson Desert catchments. No additional areas of flooding are expected in the following catchments: West Kimberley Rivers Fitzroy River Sturt Creek District Tanami Desert Western Desert Sandy Desert This flood watch is available by dialling 1300 659 213.
