Flood Warning - Wimmera River
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Victoria Final Flood Warning For The Wimmera River Issued at 11:59 AM EDT on Saturday 22 October 2022 Flood Watch Number: 22 MINOR FLOODING HAS EASED AT HORSHAM AND QUANTONG BRIDGE MINOR FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT UPSTREAM (U/S) DIMBOOLA Minor flooding has eased along the Wimmera River at Horsham and Quantong Bridge. River levels along the Wimmera River at Upstream (U/S) Dimboola remain below the minor flood level. In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Saturday, rainfall totals of 5-15 mm were recorded in the Wimmera River catchment. Further rainfall is forecast during the weekend which may cause river rises below the minor flood level. The situation is being closely monitored and predictions will be revised as necessary. Wimmera River Glenorchy to Horsham: Minor flooding has eased along the Wimmera River Glenorchy to Horsham. The Wimmera River at Horsham (Walmer) is currently at 2.10 metres and steady, below the minor flood level. Wimmera River downstream of Horsham: Minor flooding has eased along the Wimmera River downstream of Horsham. The Wimmera River U/S Dimboola is currently at 4.29 metres and steady, below the minor flood level. Flood Safety Advice: SES advises that all community members should: Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater, Never allow children to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.} Current Emergency Information is available at http://emergency.vic.gov.au For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
