Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Victoria Final Flood Warning For The Bunyip River Issued at 12:55 PM EDT on Sunday 20 October 2024 by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victoria Regional Office on behalf of Melbourne Water Flood Warning Number: 3 Bunyip Catchment: The Bunyip River catchment has recorded rainfall averaging about 40 mm since 09:00 AM Friday 18 October 2024. The Western Port catchment has recorded rainfall averaging about 27 mm for the same period. Rainfall totals of 1 mm is forecast for the catchment Sunday 20 October 2024. Water levels of the Bunyip River at various locations have risen in response to the rain. Tarago River: The level of Tarago Reservoir is currently at 157.99 metres, above the spillway level of 157.92 metres. Bunyip River to Ion The level of the Bunyip River at Iona is currently at 1.64 metres, below the Minor Flood Level, and falling. It has peaked to around the Minor Flood Level (2.10 metres) yesterday night. Bunyip River downstream of Iona: The level of the Bunyip River at Cora Lynn is currently at 3.04 metres, below the Minor Flood Level (3.10 metres), and falling. It has peaked below the Moderate Flood Level (5.00 metres) yesterday night. Minor flooding in the Bunyip River catchment is affecting low-lying areas adjacent to the waterway. The ford at Cora Lynn is now closed to traffic. The Cora Lynn Ford is expected to be opened this afternoon.
