Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Heatwave Warning Issued at 12:37 PM EST on Sunday 26 October 2025 Valid for Sunday 26 October 2025 to Wednesday 29 October 2025 Warning for the following areas: Peninsula, Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Herbert and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, Capricornia, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West and North West Safety Advice: Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures in the high thirties to mid forties with overnight minimum temperatures generally in the low to high twenties for the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West and North West districts. Maximum temperatures in the mid thirties to low forties with overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to low twenties for the Peninsula, North Tropical Coast, Herbet and Lower Burdekin, Central Coast and Whitsundays, and Capricornia districts. Severe heatwave conditions will contract to the far north of the state early next week, with a milder southerly change through the southern and central parts of Queensland. Locations likely to be impacted include Barcaldine, Clermont, Hughenden, Moranbah and Richmond. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EST on Monday 27 October 2025
