Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Final Flood Warning For The Pioneer River Issued at 04:26 AM AEST on Monday 12 January 2026 Flood Warning Number: 7 FLOODING EASED ALONG THE PIONEER RIVER The risk of heavy rainfall has eased for the Pioneer River catchment as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji has moved southward. Flooding has eased along the Pioneer River at Mirani and Mackay. Forecast showers and thunderstorms over the next few days are not expected to significantly affect river levels. Pioneer River: Flooding has eased along the Pioneer River. No observations are currently available for the Pioneer River at Mirani, however, based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is expected to be below the minor flood level (6.00 m) and falling. The Pioneer River at Mirani is expected to remain below the minor flood level (6.00 m). The Pioneer River at Mackay is currently at 4.15 m (1.21 m AHD) and falling with the tide, below the minor flood level. The Pioneer River at Mackay is expected to remain below the minor flood level (6.30 m). Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
