Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The Peel And Namoi Rivers Issued at 03:35 PM AEST on Saturday 02 August 2025 Flood Warning Number: 5 MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE SATURDAY EVENING AT TAMWORTH Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed during Saturday in the Peel River catchment. River level rises are occurring along the upper reaches of the Peel River and its tributaries. River level rises above the minor flood level are likely along the Peel River at Tamworth during Saturday evening. Further river rises to the moderate flood level are possible overnight Saturday into Sunday with forecast rainfall. Further rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary. A Flood Watch remains current for NSW, including the Peel and Namoi Rivers. Peel River: Minor to Moderate flooding is possible along the Peel River at Tamworth. The Peel River at Tamworth is currently at 2.14 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Peel River at Tamworth is likely to exceed the minor flood level (3.00 m) Saturday evening. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (4.20 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
