Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, New South Wales Final Flood Warning For The Macleay River Issued at 04:58 AM EST on Sunday 25 May 2025 Flood Warning Number: 20 FLOODING NO LONGER OCCURRING AT KEMPSEY AND SMITHTOWN No further flooding is expected in the Macleay River. River levels at Kempsey and Smithtown fell below the minor flood level Saturday evening. Macleay River: Flooding is no longer occurring along the Macleay River at Kempsey and Smithtown. The Macleay River at Kempsey (AHD) fell below the minor flood level (4.50 m) around 9pm Saturday, and is currently at 4.09 metres and falling. The Macleay River at Kempsey (AHD) is expected to remain below the minor flood level. The Macleay River at Smithtown fell below the minor flood level (3.40 m) around 9pm Saturday, and is currently at 2.98 metres The Macleay River at Smithtown is expected to remain below the minor flood level. Flood Safety Advice: In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500. * Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place. * Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood. * Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains. * Never drive, ride or walk through flood water.
