Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Northern Territory TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Cancellation Of Severe Weather Warning for Barkly and Simpson districts. Issued at 4:20 pm Friday, 25 July 2025. Damaging wind gusts have eased. Weather Situation The cold front has moved to the east of the Territory with westerly winds easing behind it. cancellation of severe weather warning for the following areas: Barkly and Simpson This warning is now cancelled. Other warnings may be current. Please check www.bom.gov.au/warnings/. 93 km/h wind gust was recorded at Alice Springs at 4 am. The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should: * pull over if it is raining heavily and you cannot see, park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears * avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current * stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways * stay away from fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live * for emergency help in floods, storms and cyclones, contact the NTES on 132 500.
