Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Northern Territory Final Flood Warning For The Katherine River Issued at 08:54 AM CST on Friday 14 January 2022 Flood Watch Number: 2 RIVER LEVELS ARE EASING AT NITMILUK CENTRE River levels are easing along the Katherine River catchment, where Nitmiluk Centre peaked with minor flooding on Wednesday afternoon and has fallen below the minor flood level. No further significant rainfall is expected over the Katherine River catchment. Katherine River Gorge Road: No further flooding is expected in the Katherine River Gorge Road. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre peaked at 3.98 metres around 04:00 pm Thursday 13 January and is currently at 1.84 metres and falling below the minor flood level. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is expected to remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m) for the next few days. Katherine Town: No further flooding is expected in the Katherine Town. The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge peaked at 12.99 metres around 02:00 am Thursday 13 January and is currently at 12.47 metres and falling below the minor flood level. The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is expected to remain below the minor flood level (16.00 m) for the next few days. Flood Safety Advice: The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should: Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Prepare for flooding and move away while safe to do so. Don't drive into floodwaters.} For emergency help in floods, storms and cyclones call 132 500.
