Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Northern Territory Final Flood Warning For The Katherine River Issued at 09:01 AM CST on Monday 18 March 2024 Flood Warning Number: 14 FLOODING HAS EASED AT NITMILUK CENTRE Recent rainfall has caused elevated river levels along the Katherine River and its tributaries but river levels are currently easing. Rainfall totals of up to 41 mm were recorded in the Katherine River catchment in the 24 hours to 8:00 am Monday. Further rainfall is possible for the next few days across the Katherine River catchment. The river level at Katherine Bridge is expected to remain below the minor flood level (16.00 metres) for at least the next few days. The situation is being monitored and renewed warnings will be issued as required. Katherine River Gorge Road: No further flooding is expected in the Katherine River Gorge Road. However, river level rises are possible with forecast rainfall later in the week. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 1.68 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (3.00 m). Flood Safety Advice: The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should: Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
