Cloud over southern WA and SA with a cold front and troughs is generating showers. Cloud over northeastern NSW, eastern QLD and northeastern NT in onshore winds is producing showers. Cloud over inland QLD and northern NSW with a trough is causing the odd shower to develop.

Launceston council received $10m drought grant for 'creative precinct'

The Federal Government awarded Launceston, in Tasmania's north, a $10-million drought recovery grant to help build a "creative precinct" in the city's CBD, while knocking back a request for help from an east coast council that suffered one of its driest years on record.

BOM issues La Nina watch, strengthening hopes the drought could end
