Those in Perth will have woken up to a chilly one this morning, with the cities' temperature falling to a cool 3 degrees overnight in the wake of Friday's strong cold front.

Right across Western Australia's southwest this morning, temperatures fell, with some places recording their coldest August mornings in two years. Perth CBD's mercury fell to three degrees, while Perth Airport, Millendon and Bunbury all recorded minimum temperatures of just two degrees this morning; all two year lows for August. The Perth CBD and Bunbury minimums of three degrees and two degrees respectively, are over five degrees below the usual averages for August (8.3 and 7.6 degrees respectively).

These cool temperatures were thanks to Friday's strong cold front delivering a large cold airmass over the region. Now this airmass has combined with a large high pressure system which is building over the region, clearing skies overnight and allowing temperatures to dramatically fall. This comes after Saturday saw temperatures in WA's southwest fall low enough to see a dusting of snow on the Stirling Range. 

Over the coming days, below average overnight temperatures are expected to continue, with sunny skies during the day bringing above average daytime temperatures in the early-to-mid twenties. The next cool change is not expected until this coming Thursday, with widespread showers anticipated during the afternoon and evening.
