Parts of inland Queensland have had a few toasty winter days.

Birdsville, the iconic town of far southwest QLD, has a run of unseasonable warmth, with the past two days exceeding 30 degrees, and a forecast max of 30 degrees again today. At this time of year residents would usually see days average only 21 degrees. It is still a far cry from the blistering summer temperatures, which saw the mercury hit 40 degrees or more for 90% of January.  

It's a similar story in Ballera, with temperatures expected to be around eight degrees above average today. Thargomindah is forecast to reach 27 degrees, which is seven degrees above the June average.

For those seeking the cooler conditions, temperatures will head back to average for most of the Channel Country tomorrow as cooler air moves in from the south. Birdsville is looking to be a balmy 22 degrees on Thursday, and Thargomindah should only reach 21 degrees.

It will remain warm in some parts of the Maranoa and Warrago as well as the Darling Downs and Granite Belt on Thursday, with the cool change becoming weaker as it spreads north and east.
