Sydney had a chilly Mothers Day and start to the working week, with its coldest temperatures since Spring. Sydney only reached a chilly 18 top of degrees yesterday, feeling even colder in the strong wind that prevailed through the day. It was the coldest day since October and the coldest Mothers Day in at least 10 years. Today is also quite cool after beginning with the coldest morning since September, dipping to 9 degrees. The rest of the day is shaping up to be quite similar to yesterday, though with less wind. Throughout May, Sydney hasn't had a drop of rain. This is likely to continue through most of the week due to the presence of a strong high pressure ridge. If it stays dry through to Wednesday then it will be the driest start to May since 1882. If it stays dry until next Sunday then it will be the driest start to May on record. There is a slight chance of coastal showers around mid week, although these would be very isolated and may miss the rain gauge completely. Otherwise, sunny skies will be the prevailing feature for the remainder of the week.
