Perth wet and cool

Perth is making up for a dry start to Autumn, with several days of rain on the cards.
The Autumn rains had totalled just under 29mm in Perth up until the 28th of April. The past seven days have brought 53mm, lifting the season's rainfall to a more respectable level, although still well below the average of 181mm.
The city gained 6mm in the 24 hours to 9am on Friday, while Jandakot to the south picked up 16mm. The rain continued today, with the heaviest falls about the Lower West district of WA. Mandurah received 26mm between 9am and 1:30 pm, which is the highest daily total since January. Perth picked up 5mm over this same time period.
Cloud brought a warm and humid night on Thursday, with the overnight temperatures up to ten degrees above average about the state's southwest. Southern Cross Airport in the Central Wheatbelt had a low of 17 degrees, the warmest since March.
Despite the warm night, cloud and rain brought a cool day to Perth, with the mercury sitting at just 20 degrees at midday.
The rain is being triggered by a low and trough. This low will move south and east on Saturday, allowing early showers to ease. Cool south-westerly winds should bring the odd shower on Sunday.
A cold front is expected to bring the next increase in rain on Monday, with a further 5-10mm expected in Perth. Showers then remain possible through to Friday of next week, with onshore winds and a series of fronts pushing through.
