Two cold fronts will deliver surges of damaging wind across Australia's southern states over the next four to five days.

July has already been an exceptionally windy month in southern Australia. Earlier this month, parts of SA and WA registered their strongest wind gusts in several years as two powerful cold fronts barrelled over both states.

Now, the flurry of mid-winter fronts is set to continue, and severe weather warnings have already been issued in several states.

A large cold front moving from west to east will scrape across Australia's southern states between Friday and Sunday.

This system is likely to cause damaging winds along the south coast of WA on Friday, and over some of the elevated terrain in Victoria and southern NSW on Friday and Saturday. Blustery winds will also spread up through central and northern NSW and into southern and western Queensland on Sunday.

A second strong front will reach southwestern Australia on the weekend, before marching across SA on Monday and southeastern Australia on Monday and Tuesday.

This second front is likely to cause more damaging winds in WA from late Saturday into Sunday and SA on Monday. Warnings will be issued closer to these days.
