A significant frontal system brought a winter-like feel to the air in Tasmania over the last few days.

The mercury only reached 12.7 degrees on Thursday and Friday, making these the coldest pair of November days in six years.

The average maximum temperature for Hobart in early November is around 18 degrees.

Further north, Launceston also experienced a noteworthy stint of cold weather. Between Tuesday and Friday, the city saw its coldest string of November days since 2006, with temperatures peaking around four-to-six degrees below the sites long term November average of 20 degrees.

Warmer air will be directed across the region over the next couple of days, as winds gain more of a northerly component.
