From wet and stormy across the east, to dry and cool in the south, how will the weather affect your Halloween trick or treat plans tonight?

In the east, a low pressure trough and cold front is bringing widespread areas of rain, storms and cloudy conditions to Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. While the heaviest falls and most severe weather are expected this morning and early afternoon for Sydney, lingering showers and cloud cover in the afternoon and evening will mean waterproof makeup and a nearby umbrella or raincoat are a must. Showers in Canberra and storms in Brisbane will make ideal weather for a night inside watching spooky movies and eating lollies. Evening temperatures in the high-teens for Sydney, low-teens for Canberra and low-20s for Brisbane.

Further south, cooler temperatures with partly cloudy skies and brisk south to southeasterly winds, along with only a slight chance of a light shower, will affect Adelaide, Melbourne and Hobart this afternoon and evening. With evening temperatures in the mid-teens for Adelaide and Melbourne, and low-to-mid-teens for Hobart, having a handy extra layer for any revealing costume may be a worthwhile item to carry around for the late-evening.

Perth can expect a mostly cloudy evening with easing westerly winds and evening temperatures in the high-teens. Darwin will see a warm, humid evening with mostly clear skies and easing winds. Making for mostly fine weather elsewhere across the country for any Halloween celebration.
