Fine weather for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne
After the predictable weather (and winner) of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian grands prix, Formula 1 will be looking to continue its fine spell of grand prix weather (and possibly spell of winners) at Albert Park in Melbourne this weekend.
While Melbourne is stuck under some cloudy gloom with some passing showers this morning, some of which might affect the third practice session at 12:30pm, and the Formula 2 and 3 sprint race at 2:15pm and 11:15am, respectively, these conditions should clear by qualifying start this afternoon at 4pm local time. A cool southerly breeze, will make the high-teens temperatures feel more like the mid-teens over the afternoon, so spectators heading down to Albert Park should pack an extra layer. While the qualifying session is expected to be dry, a rain jacket would also be advised if attending the earlier driver appearance, practice session, and Formula 2 and 3 sprint races.
Race day will be a fine and mostly sunny day, with dry conditions and temperatures near 20°C in the afternoon feeling only a degree or two cooler than the actual temperature in a light easterly breeze. Fans looking to attend the Formula 3 feature race starting at 9am should pack an extra jumper, as Melbourne is looking at a cool autumnal start to the day with a forecast minimum of 11°C.
Daily forecast table for Albert Park showing showers and cloud cover clearing for Saturday’s qualifying session, and a mostly sunny and fine day on Sunday’s race day.
