Ex-Tropical Hamish still kicking
Jessica Trevena

The tropical low that was Tropical Cyclone Hamish is still lingering off the central Queensland coast, and was responsible for heavy showers overnight.
Totals included 108mm at Byfield, near Rockhampton, 85mm at Samuel Hill and 33mm for the Sunshine Coast. Hervey Bay picked up another 54mm, bringing it up to 85% of its average March total.
On Saturday, the low will continue to weaken, though still bring showers about the Capricornia coast. Elsewhere, it will be a mostly dry day thanks to a stabilising ridge strengthening along the coast, though it will remain cloudy.
As a gusty cool change approaches southern Queensland late on Sunday, further showers and also storms can be expected to develop over the south and central east.
Further ahead, onshore winds will freshen into the new week, bringing further widespread coastal showers, which should fill in some of the gaps that have been left out of the recent rain.
