Cuba's highest temperature on record
Cuba set a new maximum temperature record this week, based on preliminary data observed on Monday.
According to the Cuban Institute of Meteorology, INSMET, a weather station at Veguitas in the country's Granma Province registered a temperature of 39.7 degrees on April 12th.
This was the second day in a row for this location to break the country's top temperature record, following 39.3 degrees on April 11th.

A large and slow-moving high pressure system has allowed heat to build over Cuba and surrounding countries during the last several days.
According to meteorologists in Florida, Miami also experienced record early-season heat late last week as the temperature reached the mid thirties (degrees Celsius).
