Christmas Day Weather

Thomas Hough

It's a mixed bag across the country today, with nearly a 20 degree difference between the coolest state/territory capital and the warmest.

Those in Perth and Adelaide are in for the best of the weather with temperatures in the high 30's and high 20's respectively. Largely clear skies for both cities will make for great conditions to be outside for Christmas lunch, although the shade might be the best option.

Darwin is also likely to see temperatures in the low 30's, however those in the northern city should expect showers to develop from around late morning, with the chance of a thunderstorm.

At the other end of the spectrum Hobart and Melbourne will struggle to hit 20 degrees with cool southwest to southeasterly winds persisting throughout the day. Canberra and Sydney only fare a little better in the low 20's, however will likely also be more cloudy. Light showers are also possible for Sydney during the morning, largely clearing in time for Christmas lunch.

Happy Christmas from all at Weatherzone.
