Adelaide locals dusting off the thongs with earliest 30-degree spring day on record
Spring, glorious spring, has well and truly sprung in Adelaide, as temperatures in large parts of the city topped 30°C in the early part of Thursday afternoon.
At 1 pm local time, the city's "official" weather station at West Terrace/ngayirdapira had reached 30.6°C, while it was 31.0°C at the airport.
This made it the warmest day so early in spring in Adelaide's recorded meteorological history.

Temps were even higher in northern parts of the state, with Renmark topping 33°C and Port Augusta exceeding 34°C.
This was Adelaide's first 30-degree days since April 8, when the maximum was 32.5°C.
- The warmest day in August was 23.8°C
- The warmest day in July was 19.8°C
- The warmest day in June was 21.9°C
- The warmest day in May was 29.0°C
So that's almost 150 days since locals have been able to bask in 30-degree weather, and aren't they loving it.
"I've got the misters on so there's a nice cool spray in the garden and I've just gotten out my thongs which were a little dusty," Adelaide resident Tory Shepherd told Weatherzone.
"The wind is a little gusty but we're loving this warm weather and we're not locked down which helps, too."

That gusty wind tells a tale that the warm weather is not here to stay for long.
A cold front is marching across the Great Australian Bight and it should reach Adelaide this evening. Max temps in the SA capital will then peak in the mid teens for at least the next few days, with occasional showers, likely heaviest tonight.
