Patchy cloud over northern QLD in a weak trough is bringing light rain and the odd storm. Cloud over WA and the NT with another trough is producing rain and scattered storms. Low cloud over southwest WA, TAS and southern parts of SA and VIC in cool winds is causing light showers.
A deep cold front has swept through Melbourne and parts of southern Victoria, uprooting trees and damaging buildings with wind gusts of more than 100 kilometres per hour (kph).
After a disappointingly dry wet season, the start of the dry season is bearing some healthy rainfall.
