Cloud over western and southern NSW, SA and VIC in a low pressure trough is causing widespread thunderstorms. Masses of cloud over WA, the NT and north QLD in moist unstable air are generating rain and storms, heavy in places. Cloud pushing across TAS is bringing rain.
About 33,000 properties are without power in South Australia, with Adelaide being the hardest hit, after a storm front crossed the state last night.
Severe weather predicted for Tasmania's north and east today has prompted a public warning from emergency services.
