Wintry weather coldest on record

Wintry weather coldest on record
Whilst northern New South Wales sweated under the heat of a 30 degree plus day, a large chunk of southern NSW shivered under the coldest day in months; for some the coldest October day on record. Ulladulla only reached 13 degrees, eight below the norm and the coldest October day in at least 14 years. Albion Park only hit 15, the coldest October day in over a decade. The Sydney Basin wasn't immune from the wintry temperatures either. Holsworthy had its coldest day for October in at least eleven years, peaking at just nine below the average, 15 degrees. Moreover, most other suburbs were nine or ten below average as well. The unusually chilly mid-spring weather comes as showers are driven across the coast in southerly winds, blocking the sun from casting its cheerful rays on long-weekend holiday makers. The bad news is that tomorrow could be just as cold as wind and showers persist along the coast, even reaching into normally sunny southeast Queensland. Thankfully, the overall trend is for easing. However, this will doubtfully be in time to save the long weekend.
