Wintery change to smash Melbourne

Wintery change to smash Melbourne
Bring the washing in! A front is about to bring some showers and chilly winds to Melbourne today. After a rather cold and long winter, Melburnians are finally reeling from two beautiful spring weekends. Temperatures reached as much as 6 degrees above the average yesterday. However by noon today, things will take a dramatic turn as a gusty front brings a wintery change. By the afternoon, showers will start and the city will cool by five degrees to around 12 or 13 degrees. You may even see a bit of thunder around the bay. A secondary front will bring even colder winds, showers, possibly even small hail late tonight and on tomorrow. The city will struggle to reach 12 degrees tomorrow, cold even for winter and a 10-degree temperature swing from the weekend! The second front will also bring wind chill, making it feel four or five degrees colder than the temperature suggests. This means that during tomorrow afternoon, it will feel closer to seven or eight degrees outside! It's not all bad news though- these fronts will bring some late season snow to the Alps, dropping as much as 15 centimetres on the resorts over the next few days. A high pressure ridge will develop from Wednesday, easing wind chill. Fortunately by the end of the week, temperatures will warm back to spring-time average, with another balmy weekend on the cards.
