After a mild Saturday, it looks like Mother's Day celebrations in southwestern WA may have to remain indoors, in the afternoon at least. Offshore winds and partly cloudy skies contributed to a mild day for most of southwest WA on Saturday, with temperatures reaching 23 degrees in Perth. Further north temperatures managed to reach 26 degrees in Geraldton, but barely managed to make it to 20 degrees to the south. A strong cold front making its way to the region is set to cause showers and isolated thunderstorms, as well as periods of strong and gusty winds throughout Sunday. Most of southwestern WA should see 1-8mm of rainfall by Monday morning, with areas of higher rainfall expected along the coast and adjacent interior south of about Bunbury. Perth should receive about 5mm, with the first drops expected this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to still reach about 24 degrees, but should drop significantly in showers later in the day.
