Following more than a month of no rain for large parts of NSW, some locations finally managed to pick up some welcome, if modest, rainfall into early Monday. A strong cold front and inland trough preceding the system brought widespread falls of under 5mm across the eastern Upper Western. Bourke picked up 1.6mm, the first rain recorded since the start of July this year. Places like Brewarrina and Lightning Ridge just a bit further east managed to get around 3-5mm. Further south and east, the systems brought 5-8mm of rainfall to the Slopes and Plains, while some parts of the Central and Southern Tablelands recorded 10-20mm. The 10.2mm total at Bathurst was the best daily rainfall since June. Orange recorded 17.4mm at the airport and 26mm at the Orange Agricultural Institute, representing the highest daily rainfall total since January this year for both sites. The systems are expected to deliver further rainfall across and east of the ranges today, potentially bringing a further 5-15mm to parts of the Hunter, Northern Tablelands and inland Mid North Coast into Tuesday morning.
