Weekend storms set to rage

Alex Krisman, Friday January 9, 2009 - 15:01 EDT

Unsettled conditions from western NSW to the northern VIC ranges on Saturday will lead to a storm primed environment. Storms have the potential to be severe, with damaging winds, flash flooding and large hail all able to impact the region.

Severe weather warnings are likely to be in force as these storm systems spread throughout, with major cities such as Canberra and Wagga Wagga in a high risk zone. While it is difficult at this stage to say precisely where storms will emerge, residents in threatened districts are advised to keep an eye on conditions and warnings as they unfold.

Following into Sunday, storms continue to threaten NSW, mainly along the great dividing range and in the north of the state.
