Warm NSW night

Warm NSW night
After what was a scorcher of a day for much of New South Wales the night brought little relief with temperatures remaining well above average across the state. The very hot airmass that sent temperatures soaring on Friday lingered over much of the state overnight. A trough brought increased cloud which acted as a blanket, trapping some of the day time heat. The night-time warmth was more pronounced over inland parts of the state where it stayed as much as fifteen degrees above the monthly average. The warmest overnight temperature was at Wanaaring in the Upper Western where it only cooled to 30 degrees, 13 above average. Cobar's overnight low of 28 was 12 degrees above average and their warmest November night in five years. Further east in the Central West Slopes and Plains Trangie, Parkes and Cowra all remained 13 degrees above average dropping to 27, 25 and 23 respectively. For Parkes this was the warmest November night since 2006 and for Trangie the warmest night for any month since December. Gulgong in the Central Tablelands had its warmest November night in 17 years, cooling to 27 degrees which is 15 above the average. Along the coast the overnight warmth wasn't as pronounced with temperatures generally three-to-five degrees above average. In the south this was thanks in part to a southerly change while clearer skies in the northeast allowed for more of the day's heat to escape. The southerly change will continue to spread a cooler airmass over southern and western parts New South Wales today, leading to a cooler evening for most parts. Those in the northwest though will be in for another sweaty night with places such as Moree and Narrabri expected to remain in the mid-to-high twenties once again.
