Tropical Cyclone Ului about to strike

Tropical Cyclone Ului is currently making it's way west-southwest towards the QLD coast at a rate of 26km/h. Ului is expected to make landfall from between 2-4am somewhere between the town of Bowen and Mackay on the Central coast.
Tropical Cyclones are difficult to forecast weather phenomena, however at this late state, it seems unlikely that the path will significantly deviate from the foretasted path, and those in the affected area should take precautions for a blustery Sunday.
Ului has been weakening since making its journey from Fiji, despite the higher than average sea surface temperatures in the pacific, mainly due to oceanic upwelling due to the mixing of lower level cold water by the cyclone itself. The long time it has spent over the pacific has caused deeper cold water from the ocean floor to mix to the surface, weakening the strength of the cyclone. As a result, the cyclone is not expected to re-intensify before making landfall, and could infact decrease to a category 1 tropical cyclone in the hours before landfall.
After making landfall, the cyclone is expected to dissipate by Monday morning. Keep up with the latest developments by checking on www.weatherzone.com
