Thunder rumbles over central QLD

Thunder rumbles over central QLD
Thunderstorms are booming over central Queensland, bringing the first significant rain seen in three weeks. Shortly after lunch, the heavens finally opened up as thunderstorms rapidly developed within a low pressure trough between Longreach and Blackall. The temperature plummeted at Blackall, dropping eight degrees in less than 90 minutes, falling quickly from a balmy 30 degrees. Although this trough does not contain much in the way of moisture, it has been nearly three weeks since the Blackall has needed the rain gauge. This trough will linger over central QLD today before deepening further tomorrow. Showers and storms will linger about the Central Highlands and Coalfield extending into the Darling Downs and South East region and across into the New South Wales border on Saturday. By Sunday, the low pressure trough will weaken considerably, causing showers to ease.
