The wet is on for the northeast of NSW

The wet is on for the northeast of NSW
The next week will see persistently showery conditions for the northeast as we head into the wet season. Today, towns in the northeast received a spattering of light showers. Limpinwood has received 16.4mm since 9am, with 5.4mm in the last hour. Mulburry Creek had 10mm since 9am and Lismore 3mm. Fresh onshore winds across the northeast of NSW, brought by a high sitting in the pacific is bringing a lot of tropical moisture into the temperate zone, causing the rain we are seeing today. Along with a very active monsoon trough, which is bringing warm air further south than is usual for this time of year, conditions are set up for a very soggy week, with at least 5-10mm per day expected for all areas in the northeast of NSW and 10-15mm for coastal areas. Wednesday and Thursday look the wettest as a trough sweeps towards the east coast, bringing a significant amount of tropical heat, triggering widespread showers and releasing up to 30mm along the coast, everyone had better keep their umbrellas handy!
