Tasmania's early taste of winter

Tasmania's early taste of winter
It was a chilly start over the Apple Isle, with some more cool weather ahead. For most districts, it was the coldest morning since October. The only districts that missed out on the icy morning was the Lower Derwent and parts of the East coast. Accompanying the chilly start was frost, forming under the clear skies and light winds. The coldest overnight temperature was recorded at Liawenee, dropping to minus six degrees, which is eight degrees below the April average. Most of the Northwest Coast has recorded less than seven degrees to 9am this morning. At Strahan, the mercury dipped to one degree, making it the coldest this early in April for over a decade. Tomorrow the frost risk will remain, particularly for Central districts. Showers will develop in the west during Tuesday evening and spread over the east with a front during Wednesday. Another blast of Antarctic air on Thursday will trigger cool winds and showers, with a brief respite on Friday. Over the weekend, a strong front looks likely to bring further showers, with severe frost and Alpine snow likely.
