TAS set for more wind, showers and snow

TAS set for more wind, showers and snow
While most of the mainland Australia will be calm and settled under a high for the next few days, for the Apple Isle this means the return of cold, wet and windy conditions. A series of cold fronts and strong winds from the Southern Ocean will be a persistent feature throughout Tasmania. Exposed places are likely to see gusts well over 100km/h, particularly around Maatsukyker Island, Scotts Peak Dam and Cape Grim this week. For Devonport, Wednesday and Thursday looks to be the windiest period, with Launceston and Hobart likely to see the stronger winds from Thursday. Over the next seven days, rainfall will be persistent in the west, accumulating around 50-100mm. On the more sheltered eastern side of the island, falls will be significantly lighter and likely to be less than 10mm over the week. Some of this rain will fall as snow, more likely from Wednesday or Thursday, making driving and bush walking conditions very dangerous.
