Stormy Saturday for parts of WA

Stormy Saturday for parts of WA
A series of troughs and embedded lows are bringing sparks to the skies of WA today. Widespread thunderstorm activity is being observed across western parts of the state, especially over the Central West, Gascoyne and Goldfields districts. A storm briefly sparked up over the northern suburbs of Perth earlier this morning, with 339 ground strikes recorded between around 5 and 6am WST. Rain gauges in the area reported 2-3 mm of rain over a short space of time, so the storm passing over would have been quite noticeable. Thunderstorm activity is only going to become more intense and widespread, as the Sun's energy gets to work, with bursts of heavy rain, damaging winds and large hail being a risk.
