Stormy days ahead for parts of SA
Craig McIntosh

A cold front currently impacting southern WA will cross SA on Thursday, bringing showers, thunderstorms and strong winds.
A slow-moving low and cold front are making their way towards SA, bringing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to much of southern WA, stretching as far north as the Gascoyne. As they approach SA, the low looks to dip south over the Bight, however the cold front will cross most of the state.
On Wednesday evening, the initial trough may spark a few storms within showers over the NW Pastoral and West Coast. Thursday will see most of the action, however, as the cold front follows.
Strong, mainly northerly winds just ahead of the front have a chance of reaching the damaging threshold, that is gusts reaching 90km/h. Central and northern areas of the state that have been dry will likely see raised dust ahead of the front. Fire danger will also be elevated due to the strong winds.
The trough and cold front will deliver some modest rainfall totals as they traverse east, with the best falls generally restricted to the northern and southern agricultural areas. Between Wednesday and Friday evenings, about 10-20mm at the most is expected. The best chance of locally heavier falls will be within thunderstorms, however they will be isolated and the majority will be offshore.
Light, isolated showers should linger in the south across the coming weekend, and cold temperatures in the wake of the front will lead to areas of early morning frost by Sunday.
