Storms plaguing NSW, Qld

Storms plaguing NSW, Qld
Storm-weary parts of southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales are preparing for another bout of wild weather today. There has been little respite from storms in the region during the last two weeks, with storms developing on most days. A number of areas received severe storms on multiple days. The latest round of lightning and thunder rolled through during the early hours of this morning, waking up residents between Rockhampton and Tenterfield. There were reports of lightning strikes close to people's houses in Beaudesert and the storms produced about 15mm of rain in an hour in some places, including Amberley. Power was temporarily cut to thousands of customers. The line of storms reached Brisbane from the west shortly after 2:00am, before moving off the coast well before sunrise. While things have calmed down for the remainder of this morning, more storms will develop this afternoon and some are likely to become severe. Thunderstorms will form over the northern ranges of New South Wales initially, before spreading east towards the coast and north across Queensland's central and southeastern districts this afternoon and early evening. Some of the storms will become severe and will be capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain that may cause localised flash flooding.
