Storms bring 'light show' to Moruya, Bombala

Friday February 12, 2010 - 10:14 EDT

Parts of the New South Wales south east have been treated to an electrical "light show" with isolated storm cells hitting two regional centres last night.

The storms cut power briefly on the far south coast at Moruya and on the Monaro, caused minor flooding in the Bombala River.

The Weather Bureau's Paul Carello says the unsettle weather will continue today and Moruya could face another round of storm activity.

"Any thunderstorms that do develop will be fast-moving," he said.

"The problem of flash flooding may not be an issue but if we do get a thunderstorm this afternoon - the chances are quite reasonable that we will around the Moruya area - they should be quite gusty with strong winds associated with the storms."
