Temperatures have plunged by more than 10 degrees across Victoria today after warm and stormy weather targeted the state on Thursday. Maximum temperatures were up to 15 degrees above average in Victoria during the last two days as a pulse of humid air from the tropics crossed the state ahead of a cold front. On Wednesday, Cape Nelson (33C) had its warmest October day in 13 years and Combienbar's 31 degrees was its highest October temperature since 2006. Thursday was also warm and particularly muggy as a tongue of moisture-laden air swept across the state. Melbourne's 21 degrees at 12:30pm yesterday felt more like 24 degrees due to the humidity. Fast forward 24 hours and much cooler, drier air behind the cold front made today's lunch break feel considerably different in Melbourne. The city's temperature of 15 degrees at midday was feeling more like 10 degrees due to the air's dryness and wind chill. Maximum temperatures will remain a few degrees below average in Melbourne this weekend before days start warm up again early next week.
