Some weather advice for Sydney-siders

Sam Terry
After a warm and sunny weekend in Sydney the week started off somewhat gloomy as widespread cloud dominated Monday, according to weatherzone.com.au. On Saturday and Sunday, temperatures were able to soar over and above the long-term average. Sunday was Sydney's warmest day this month, getting to a summery top of 19 degrees. Today, though, was something of a contrast, perhaps reflecting the moods of those returning to work after a relaxing weekend. A trough extending from Queensland into New South Wales brought enough cloud to keep the mercury below 17 degrees for the entire day. This made Monday Sydney's coldest day in over a week. Tuesday and Wednesday are set to continue the cooler trend as gusty southerly winds push in the antarctic air that once was the very breath of penguins. The wind will make it feel even cooler than it would otherwise feel, so cardigans and other woollen garments are recommended. For those spending time in the city and eastern suburbs, an umbrella would be handy in the case of brief showers.
