Soggy winter for Perth
Graeme Brittain

Western Australia's capital city has recorded its highest winter rainfall total since 2000.
A total of 464.6mm of rain fell between start of June and the end of August, which is 118% of the seasonal average.
August alone saw 186.0mm, which was the highest amount of rainfall collected for any month since June 2005, and the largest August total since 1992.
Although winter is the wet season for this part of the country, rainfall was recorded at the Perth site on 53 out of the 92 days of winter, which is about 5 days more than normal.
Looking ahead into spring, climate models are indicating a trend to drier than average conditions, with a low chance of exceeding the median spring rainfall.
