Storms have again fired up over the NSW Northern Rivers, with potential for some severe weather, according to weatherzone.com.au.
At around 1pm the thunder began, with storms building quite quickly as they were driven east by strong winds aloft. Most of the towns hit by the storms only picked up light showers due to the speed of the storms. Grafton, however, did pick up about 5 millimetres in 10 minutes, a moderately heavy dump of rain. There were also damaging wind gusts reported in the area, with a gust of 85km/h detected. This was Grafton's strongest gust in three years, and had the potential to snap branches off trees.
The area of storms is starting to spread into southern QLD near a trough, but the possibility of severity is less north of the border. South of the border, storms are continuing to form, and the chance of large hail and damaging wind gusts remaining.
