Rain becoming a trend in WA

After a fairly dry start to the year the west coast of WA is starting to become a much wetter, and much windier, place.
While the first 6 months of the year were generally very much below average, particularly the area of coast from Geraldton to Mandurah, the last month has been near average thanks to a warming trend in northeastern Indian Ocean waters. This means that there is a greater inflow of moisture over WA, allowing more rainfall to occur.
Today another rain-producing system crossed the state and is currently sliding south into the Bight. The cold westerly winds in its wake have maintained light showers over the Lower West and Southwest districts.
Generally totals have been less than 10 millimetres, which isn't very heavy. The good news is that systems like this will keep passing through, bringing more rainfall, with some potential for the rainfall total of the next quarter to get slightly above average.
