Perth hopes for rain

Josh Fisher
Perth could see its first measurable rainfall this weekend with storms possible on Sunday and again on Monday. Perth has been thirsting for rain after only 0.2mm fell in the city over the past 119 days. Perth Airport can beat that, staying bone dry during that time span. This dry spell may evaporate this weekend with a trough deepening and pushing west over the state. This will generate scattered showers and storms over western parts of Western Australia from Sunday through Tuesday. Perth's best chance for a storm will be on Sunday when the trough edges even further west, drawing moisture over the coast. There is still a slight chance for a storm on Monday, but to a lesser degree. These storms will be scattered so while some areas could see their first rain in months, others may miss out completely.
