Residents of New Zealand's North Island are expecting a wet start to the working week. A series of low pressure troughs and cold fronts are expected to cross the region in coming days. Rainfall in the Far North is expected to commence on Sunday afternoon, and spread to remaining parts overnight and throughout Monday. Widespread falls of 20-30 millimetres are expected to have fallen by Monday afternoon, with a further 10-20 millimetres expected by the end of Tuesday. Places like Auckland and Hamilton could see about 30-40 millimetres fall during the event, with New Plymouth possibly picking up as much as 60-80 millimetres over 48 hours. Rainfall is expected to contract north, delivering another few millimetres over Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Auckland on Wednesday, before a high pressure system begins to clear conditions.
