Natural disaster declared for mid-north coast

Thursday October 29, 2009 - 12:22 EDT

The New South Wales Government has declared the mid-north coast shires of Nambucca and Bellingen natural disaster areas.

Flash flooding this week compounded damage from four floods since February.

The Nambucca shire is struggling with a $15 million backlog of works from earlier floods and estimates the latest damage at more than $2 million.

The Emergency Services Minister, Steve Whan, says there has been a lot of damage to public infrastructure.
