More Northern Rivers storms forecast

Friday December 5, 2008 - 07:00 EDT

The weather bureau has predicted storm activity to continue around the New South Wales Northern Rivers area over the next four days.

The area was hit by electrical storms and high winds on Wednesday afternoon, with Lismore and Woodburn hardest hit.

A severe weather forecaster at the bureau, Michael Logan, says storms over the coming days are likely to produce more rain than this week's event.

He says northern NSW is a storm hot spot at this time of year.

"In keeping with the thunderstorm time of the year we are expecting further storms for the next four days through that region before ... cooler weather comes in and clears away the thunderstorm potential and just leaves a few showers by Monday," he said.
