Heavy rain in the east: It's not over just yet.
Tim Shu

Torrential rain strikes the South East coast of QLD bringing the highest February falls in over 100 years in some places.
Yesterday, the weather station at Mt Tamborine received 364mm in a 24hr period, making this the highest recorded fall during the month of February since the station started operations in 1888.
The most heavily effected region extended from just north of Brisbane to Lismore in NSW, with most weather stations within 50km of the coast reporting over 100mm of rain.
This unusually high rainfall was caused by moist, unstable easterly flow feeding the trough that has been sitting off the coast of NSW over the last few days. As the trough moved north and over land, it triggered convective systems causing flash flooding in many areas.
The rain isn't over yet, the trough is expected to push further inland over the next few days causing showers and storms to spread inland areas of QLD and NSW.
